HOW TO ADOPT
We are located just north of Bracebridge, Ontario. We do not have standard kennel facilities, as all the dogs are cared for in our house or in a cabin-like shelter. None are caged or in runs and they join us for walks in the bush. In order to meet the dogs we come to you.
To adopt, please contact Sharron 705-764-1478 | firstname.lastname@example.org
PRELIMINARY TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED:
- Residence situation (house, townhouse, apartment, condo)
- Yard or property - fenced
- Children in the house - ages
- Hours the dog will be alone without humans
- Other household pets
- Indoor / Outdoor dog
- Previous dog experience
- Amount of money expected to be paid for veterinary care
FINAL STEPS OF THE ADOPTION PROCESS:
The final step of the process is a home visit and we bring as many pups as possible with us for selection and socialization purposes.
We believe the dog chooses you as much as you choose the dog. If all works out, for both parties, the dog is placed at that time
It is hard to put a price on these remarkable animals but with all the costs involved in their rescue and care there is no choice. Our adoption fees are:
$250 for a puppy
$350 for a spayed or neutered adult
Only the strong survive where these dogs come from so they are healthy and strong apart from the usual parasites all puppies are inflicted with. We treat them when they come into our care and if we have any concerns they are vet checked
All dogs are vaccinated and we provide adoption papers outlining the treatment they have received.
We are most fortunate to work with wonderful veterinarians who understand rescue work and are willing to share their knowledge with us. They are Peter Jones and Ian White of the Port Carling and Parry Sound Veterinary Clinics.
If approved for adoption, it is required that a contract be signed agreeing to have the puppy (under five months of age) spayed or neutered when it is six months of age.
